The Ultara 36
imagesetting system is a workhorse for high volume and
tight deadline production of documents up to 360mm (14.2
inches) wide. Recording at any of 10 resolutions up
to 1200 dpcm (3048 dpi), with speeds up to over 135.4cm
(53 inches) per minute, the Ultara 36 system creates
high quality images on film, RC paper, or paper or polyester
based plate mate-rials. |
| The
Ultara 36 system includes two internal Page Buffer drives.
These ensure data flow for constant speed imaging and
allow the system to literally run nonstop when a steady
stream of pages are available. It can be equipped with
Multiport Option to accept input from up to four Panther
RIPs. Because each RIP interfaces via a SCSI-2 interface,
systems of multiple Rips and recorders can be configured
to operate on a next available basis without an external
multiplexer. The Ultara 36 is supplied with one PantherRIP
III. Alternatively the Ultara 36 can be installed on
any Laserbus system allowing it to be driven by RipExpress
or PrintExpress . |
| The
Ultara 36 imagesetter has a repeatability specification
of ±25µm (0.001") over eight platesup to 61cm (24 inches)
deep, so color registration is accurate even for long
pages, 2-up impositions, and extra spot colors. |
| Equipped
with high-capacity supply and take-up cassettes, the
Ultara 36 system requires little operator attention.
Media is automatically cut when the take-up cassette
is full -- but never in the middle of a page! For even
more automated operation, an Ultara 36recorder can optionally
be interfaced to an online processor. |
